11/6/2013 10:34:03 AM | I already found 2 articles that shows that the 612th AC 42-31486 crashed on Jan 29, 1944 was nick named Wild Oat.
Can anyone tell me more about it ?

11/6/2013 10:53:12 AM | Without my books here I can't look anything up. There seems to be an issue on this one as it shows 3 missions but there is a great disparity with mission #145 and there last mission!!!! Share the articles.....

One article you wrote your self in the old forum :
With two engines on fire and their B-17 riddled by flak from German artillery, bombardier Lt. Bill Frye Jr. made his way toward an exit hatch and pulled the lever.
At that moment the plane,nicknamed Wild Oats , exploded and catapulted the Orange Park man out into the frigid air 24,000 feet above the ground. The date was Jan. 29, 1944.
Knocked out by the blast......
