I was able to visit the Mighty 8th Air Force museum in GA on the way home from NY 2 days ago. It was very nice to see the museum and the memorial gardens.

When the museum was visited last year by some of the 401st group..were any pictures taken of the 401st memorial plaques in the memorial garden? I took some and wondered if there were others and is there any interest in sharing them? I was having trouble with weak camera batteries and have not checked to see which ones came out yet...but hopefully most of them will be ok.

I also wondered if anyone has placed a memorial plaque on the walls there of their family members or loved ones?

Well, now, I know of at least two people who took pictures of those plaques. I do not know the name of the first person, he was at the Savannah reunion. The second person shall not be named, but his initials are "yours truly..."

Ed,

Here is a link to the pictures I took. I was not happy to be having trouble with my camera that day of all days...but at least I got a few. I hope others will enjoy seeing some of them.

Ed..had you thought of adding to the individual plaques with family members? Hope this goes through correctly.

In the memorial garden there are walls of individual memorial plaques for individuals...other than the crew memorials. I was wondering if you or anyone else in the membership had already added a family or loved ones plaque or thought about it for the future...does that make sense? I probably did not explain myself right...senior moments lately 🤦

So basicly you want to see about a sole plaque for your father is that what you are talking about.

Don,

Yes, that is what I am wondering about...I wondered if anyone else had purchased one as well. We were not there long enough (we could have spent a whole day there)to read each individual name on all the walls...so I have been wondering if anyone else had purchased/bought one for a family member. I have been thinking of a plaque for my father, but it will have to wait a while as the trip to NY set us back for the near future.

OK, I guess I misunderstood. I was referring to the plaques that involved 401st planes. 🙂

I know Joe LaGrasta did but he did it for the whole crew and the aircraft Jill's Jalopy. I believe Paul Lyall did but don't know if he did it just for his dad or not. I will give you his email.
