Ed,

Will you be taking over the old forum as well so it can be cleaned up and represent the 401st as it should be?

Jackie

I asked Lee about that, but he seem resistant about it because the old forum is supposed to be Gone with the Wiki... I may ask Kele anyway for a copy of the old forum's database. She can download it, pass it to me, and I'll gladly take the half hour required to clean the spam out. But since I'm focused on getting this one up and running (as well as the rest of my life), It's a little low on my priority list.

When I clear a few hurdles, maybe then...

Ed:

If there's any 'grunt work' I can do to help collect or otherwise process the old Forum posts to help tie or integrate them with the current or new Forum or categories, let me know.

Explaining to me how to do it may be trying (sorta non-techie, I am) but I learn slow, but learn good sometines, and sure want to save those posts - there's gold (info) in them-thar posts.

How are your Microsoft Access skills, Win? You're welcome to try deleting the spam for me. (Assuming I can get a copy from Kele).

I can explain to you what to do, so I'm not terribly worried about that, but doing the job right requires a little discipline. Not to make it harder than it sounds, it's not, but discipline is an important process when dealing with computers.

As to getting that information up and running here... Darth Vader voice again: Leave that to me... 😃

There's to ways to do it, by hand, which is where you could help out, or by the use of SQL queries, which is my area. And I suspect using SQL, I can probably do the whole process relatively quickly.

You could also send me the data as I have MSAccess on my computer and believe it is not much more then deleting records?

Yep. You just need to take care what records you delete. 🙂

I've got a request out to Kele now, there's a problem backing up the forum database. If I get response from her, I'll ask about that too...

Of course, this particular project only one person should work on.

Regretfully - I Don't know or have (as far as I know) MS Access.
'Willing to learn' - But I don't think that helps you now.
'Last Resort' option - Gladly, if that's what it comes to.
