Hi Fred,

I've looked at the 401st mission lists for September to December 1944, and there are no listed losses over France on missions to Germany during that period.
Ther are a number of forced landings in Belgium in the list though, two of which were on a Wednesday:

Weds 13 September 1944.
Mission: Meresburg. Synthetic oil plant.
Aircraft: Possibly 42-97869 IY-A "Hula Girl"
Pilot: Lt J Kovach.
Forced landing at an Allied airfield in Belgium, crew returned to Deenethorpe.

Thursday 28 September 1944.
Mission: 150. Magdeburg. Aero Engine Factory.
Aircraft: 42-31863 "Miss B Havin"
Pilot: Lt Charles W Utter.
Forced landing on Allied fighter airfield, near Ghent, Belgium.
Crew returned to Deenethorpe 2 days later.

Wednesday 8 November 1944.
Mission: 168. Meresburg. Synthetic oil refinery.
Aircraft: 43-37736 "Little Pedro"
Pilot: Lt Richard Steen.
Forced landing in Belgium on RAF Fighter Advanced Landing Ground near Brussels.
Crew returned to Deenethorpe.

Tuesday 21 November 1944.
Mission: 177. Meresburg. Oil Refinery.
Aircraft: 42-107113 IY-J "Mrs Aldaflak".
Pilot: Lt P J Sullivan.
Forced landing in Belgium.
Crew returned to Deenethorpe.

All the best,
Paul
