8/31/2008 4:48:32 AM | I am collecting any photos taken at Deenthorpe during the period May-Sept '44. My father Elmer Gillespie, a pilot with the 615th Sq, completed his missions during that period. I have all of his letters to my mother and would like to put together a web page based on those letters, to include period photos. And as an aside, would hope to find a photo that include him. Thank you for any assistance. Bill Gillespie

I suspect you're on your own for this one, Bill. There is some date information to be found on the photos in the Gallery section of the 401st web ( http://www.401bg.com/gallery/gallery.asp ). Unfortunately, the Gallery is not fully restored (and one wonders WHEN it will ever be fixed). I suspect you will have to go through each and every photo and examine the date taken. Just as unfortunately, I'm not certain that all the dates are accurate, so you need to use caution there. Someone correct me where I'm wrong... (Paul?) 🙂

9/3/2008 5:33:07 PM | Welcome Bill, and hi Ed, I've been going through the NARA photos for the period. There are a few un-named crew shots, and a number of assorted base photos. I've got a bit of a bug at the moment, but as soon as I'm up to it I'll start assembling some pictures for Bill. TTFN, Paul

9/4/2008 9:44:21 PM | Hi Paul: Sorry to hear about your 'bug'. An Aussie, years ago, suggested hot scotch-whiskey and lemon: a shot or two of whiskey, a lemon section, in a tumbler of hot water. Doesn't cure a thing, but after a few you really don't care...and you get a lot of sleep. (At least I did). Anyway, here's top your good health (don't need to be ill for a hot scotch and lemon) and never underestimate a 'bug'. Win
