Is it possible to identify a crew member and his crew by their individual serial number?

I have my dad's serial number and the serial numbers of his fellow crewmembers on some of his paperwork.  Each crew had a crew number, I believe.  If you have someone's serial number from your dad's crew, there might be a way.  A lot of veterans' records were destroyed in a fire in the late 60s, early 70's at Jefferson Barracks, MO.

You can try that but I believe they will only respond to a relative of each individual person.  That is because it does have some personal information in it.  I had to indicate it was my uncle that I was requesting info on when I sent mine in.

Do a search on service records and check out the NARA, National Archives and Records Admonitstration.

A SF-From 180 to the national personnel records in St. Louis MO.  I will have to find the actual address.
