12/10/2001 2:16:13 PM | I was hoping to find any information about my grandfather, Donald Bennett who died on August 1st, 1944. The role of honor has him listed as a member of the 401st group, 615 squadron. He is buried in Normandy. Growing up, I had heard that he flew fighter planes, so I was interested to find out he was a member of the 401st. Where escorts considered part of the group or was my information wrong? Thank you very much for your time.
