1/5/2010 3:07:28 PM | My name is J Kurt Zimmerman, I am the son of JL Zimmerman 2nd Lt.(co-pilot) in the crew of JJ Sauerwald who captained the "Round Tripper" #42-31369 in the 614th Bomb Squadron of the 401st BG. This plane has a magnificent history and a few years ago was found at the bottom of the North Sea where it had belly landed after taking flak during its last mission. Danish public television flew my Dad over for a special on the plane and even gave him a piece of it to bring back with him. We, sadly, learned at that time that he was the last surviving member of any crew that had flown on the"Round Tripper". Dad is looking forward to celebrating his 86th birthday at the end of this month. God Bless all those who fought for our freedom and their families.
