John Katsaros documents his experiences as a waist gunner (612th SQ, 401st BG), including being shot down on 20 March, 1944 (Man O'War), and his subsequent escape and evasion. I met John and purchased his book at the 2008 401st reunion in DC. He is quite a guy, and his book is a MUST READ.

Contact information to obtain a signed copy of John's book, (from John's Facebook page). I obtained his permission to post this on the forum:

To order newly published book, "Code Burgundy-The Long Escape" personally autographed, send $25.00 S&H Included to John Katsaros 109 Crosby St., Haverhill, MA 01830. CB-TLE is a true story of John's 25,000 ft. freefall. Gestapo captures him twice, left for dead, rescued by the FF Resistance. They operated 3 times to save his life planned his escapes to Spain & England. Released from intel secrecy after 60 Yrs.

All:

'Ditto' Rick's comments. A unique and well-told account of what must have been a harrowing experience.
I can't imagine the odds overcome to survive - certainly a tribute to the French who helped him (and others).
