4/22/2009 5:29:27 PM | I've sent Chris a message via WIX letting him know about this forum, where it's a lot easier for us to give him the info he requires. 🙂 His friend's Grandfather (listed as Sgt A.R. De Pra) was usually the ball gunner on H.V. Nielson's crew: Crew details page HERE and/or HERE. I know Chris would like to find a photograph of their usual airplane, 44-6588 "Carrie B IV", but off the top of my head I can't recall if there is one. All the best, Paul

5/7/2009 7:13:46 PM | Here's some of the photo's from Adam Riddle's grandfather's collection that Chris posted up over on WiX. Some we've seen, and some that aren't in the archives: B-17F-50-DL 42-3371, one of the planes the 401st trained on in the ZI, probably at the 2AF B-17 Replacement Crew Training Station at Ardmore AAF. The aircraft in the foreground in the next three photos is IW-N 43-38738 "BeComin' Back" which survived her 57 misions, and ended up at Kingman, AZ for scrapping. The plane in the background is marked IY-G and is H2X radar-equipped. This must be 44-8708, which seems to have only flown in the same squadron box as IW-N on two occasions, so the photo was presumably taken on either of these dates: Group Mission 225 to Hagen marshalling yards on the 10th March 1945 Group Mission 246 to Oranienburg ordnance depot on the 10th April 1945 I'll have a stab at captioning those I can over the next few days. Chris has made a video to go with these, which can be viewed HERE And "Holedigger" over on WiX has come up with this great colour illustration: Closeup: All the best, Paul
