7/2/2008 9:36:11 AM | Hello: I am a distant cousin of William L. Carpenter of Guyton, Georgia. Bill was a Tail Gunner in the crew of 1st Lt G.L. La Fevor, 614th Bomb Squadron. He died this past Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the VA Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. http://www.legacy.com/Savannah/Obituari ... =112530097 I met Bill about 20 years ago when I was a teenager, and he showed me and my dad his flight jacket and told us all about his war experiences. Meeting him and hearing about him flying over the English Channel on D-Day made a great impression on me. God rest him. With kindest regards, Ramona Bartos

3/1/2009 6:08:19 PM | Hello My dad was on the crew with Mr. Carpenter. His name was Russell E. Bilyeu. He passed away back in 1981. Since it has been so long ago, we don't have a lot of information on Dad's crew. He did talk about "Carpie" when he was alive. I guess that I would love to hear any stories or information about the La Fevor crew. I am sorry for the loss of Mr. Carpenter and wish I had a chance to talk to him. GLB
