11/30/2011 6:19:25 PM | Until the 13th September 1944 42-97869 Hula Girl/Maid to Order was IW-H, but from that date until appearing on the formation diagram for the 24th December 1944 as IY-A, which she remained as until her loss in February 1945, she seems to have simply vanished. She flew no missions between those dates, and doesn't appear on the Assigned Aircraft Inventory (taken on the 6th of each month) even in the "Off Station" section from October 1944 until reappearing in January 1945. Any ideas anyone? All the best, PB

12/1/2011 6:38:40 PM | I found a note in my references that indicates 42-97869 was named Maid to Order while she was with the 614th as IW-H, and later renamed Hula Girl in her 615th time as IY-A. Sadly I can't find the reference I had for that note, but it looks like it could be from Freeman and Osbourne's Flying Fortress Story which I don't have a copy of to check any more. All the best, Paul

12/2/2011 12:14:35 PM | That is a valuable Book to Keep!!! IW-H as 614th BS and IY-H as 615th.... I also checked the database and it had the IY-A hum. I made a temp change based on the book but need to check other docs for the call letters. Don

12/2/2011 12:27:28 PM | I believe the entry in the book gives 42-97869's 615th code as either IY-H or -A. Cross-checking my spreadsheet with the formation diagrams for her time with the 615th gives 42-97636 (no name PFF ship) as IY-H and 42-97869 Hula Girl as IY-A. All the best, Paul
