| Until the 13th September 1944 42-97869 <i>Hula Girl</i>/<i>Maid to Order</i> was <b>IW-H</b>, but from that date until appearing on the formation diagram for the 24th December 1944 as <b>IY-A</b>, which she remained as until her loss in February 1945, she seems to have simply vanished.<br/> She flew no missions between those dates, and doesn't appear on the Assigned Aircraft Inventory (taken on the 6th of each month) even in the "Off Station" section from October 1944 until reappearing in January 1945.<br/> <br/> Any ideas anyone?<br/> <br/> All the best,<br/> PB <br/><br/>Paul Bellamy<br/> <img class='ForumMaxImgWidth' src='/public/Attachments/ForumNew.MainPage/resource1.png' /><br/>

| I found a note in my references that indicates <b>42-97869</b> was named <i><b>Maid to Order</b></i> while she was with the 614th as <b>IW-H</b>, and later renamed <i><b>Hula Girl</b></i> in her 615th time as <b>IY-A</b>.<br/> Sadly I can't find the reference I had for that note, but it looks like it could be from Freeman and Osbourne's <i>Flying Fortress Story</i> which I don't have a copy of to check any more.<br/> <br/> All the best,<br/> Paul <br/><br/>Paul Bellamy<br/> <img class='ForumMaxImgWidth' src='/public/Attachments/ForumNew.MainPage/resource1.png' /><br/>

| That is a valuable Book to Keep!!!  IW-H as 614th BS and IY-H as 615th....  I also checked the database and it had the IY-A hum.
