Scott McElvain 7/25/2009 9:59:22 PM | My first experience with the print - I had a fellow Air Force missile crew man who I had told of my dad's B-17 group. He found one of these prints somewhere and gave it to me in the mid 70s - This was more than 10 years before mom and I started going to reunions. I have several prints associated with the group that I ought to have mentioned on the website like the bibliography that I helped put together... |

Donald Byers 7/25/2009 11:46:29 PM | You need to bring them to the next reunion as you have in the past...... |

rick kaufman 7/26/2009 10:54:21 PM | Our GREAT and trusted friend George Menzel has ALL the answers regarding this print. The picture in question is reproduced on the cover of his book "Portrait of a Flying Lady", and the history behind the painting is outlined in the first chapter of George's book. I will hold out on the details at this time in attempt to get more people to pick up their copies of George's book and read it. "Portrait of a Flying Lady" is now #1 on my recommended "MUST READ" list... Rick |
Donald Byers 7/26/2009 11:40:38 PM | I know of this painting but was unsure which print(s) Scott was refering to as he has taken 4 or 5 to the reunions in the past. Thanks for posting Rick. Don |
