ROBIN CARTER 9/23/2007 12:38:43 PM | Whilst walking round the runway today at Deenefield, I came across a memorial/grave dating back to the 1800's, I just wondered whether anyone who was there during the war remembers it, and do they know the story behind it? I can imagine it must have been a talking point amongst those based there during the war. |

ROBIN CARTER 9/26/2007 12:06:16 PM | HI Dale, stay on the very left edge of the airfield property, and you have trees on your left, you can follow the public footpath, keep walking along past the new hangers, when you get to the back of the hanger there is a small memorial stone/grave stone which is encircled by a wooden frame. I couldnt read it properly as it was weather beaten, but it had a mans name on and a date which was in the 1880's. Let me know if you find it, if not I will try and be more precise. Its a strange one. |
