My father, Charles T. Hagen, was a waist gunner of the 612th Bomb Squadron, the Fancy Nancy Crew.  He passed away back in 1972 when I was just 4 years old.  He never spoke of his time in the service with my sisters or my Mom.  It would really help me to know what he went through back then.  I've watched Memphis Belle numerous times to get a sense of what he may have went through  I'm sure that no movie could do justice for what all of those brave men went through.  Does anybody still have surviving parents and grandparents that were part of that crew?  I would love to hear from you.  Thank you.  Doug Hagen - South Dakota

Do you have your dad's copy of the Blue Book, the "Annual" of the group?  There's a page on the crew and the mishap where the ball turret was torn off in a collision.  I can send you a xerox of the page.  I met the pilot, Scrib Dailey, at one of the late 80s, early 90s reunions.  There are pictures of Fancy Nancy IV in the National Archives.  Will see if there are any of the original FN......... None of II or III.

The original Fancy Nancy has several negatives in the National Archives.  You can check their website.  Contact them and they can send xeroxes of the photos they have from the negatives.  They also give you info on the companies that can pull the negatives and make prints for you.

Negatives- NASA #s B65457AC, B65603AC, 65685AC, 65707AC, and C65769AC.

I would appreciate any info you could send me regarding my Grandfather, Capt. Scrib Dailey, Pilot of B-17 "Fancy Nancy, especially the picture of the mishap. I am attempting to put a booklet together for my Gandmother, his widow. Thanks for your help.
