If you are trying to find out if photos exist of airplanes, try the National Archives at College Park, Special Media Archives Services Division (NWSC), 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, MD 20740-6001.  You need to tell them the Group, crew pilot, serial number or nickname of the plane, actually everything you know.  They will tell you if they have negatives, send xeroxes of the photos they have, and brochures from companies that can pull negatives and make you prints.  An AC suffix on the negative number means aircraft or aircraft and crew.  J is for jacket art.

You can also try us here at the San Diego Aerospace Museum.ššWe have over 1.5 million images, many hundred of those are B-17s, although we do not have that many from the 401st.ššContact Alan Renga at 619-234-8291 arenga@sdasm.org

You can also send an e-mail to the following address:

Stillpix@arch2.nara.gov

THIS IS FOR THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES.

But you must have the nickname of the air craft and the group and Squadron.  They will reply that they have received your request and all other info will be by postal mail so include your address.
