2/10/2014 5:46:48 PM | Dear, My father was a Belgian and worked in Sachsenhausen/Oranienburg during WW2. He was severely injured during an attack on April 10, 1945 and experienced near-dead situations, he told men once. I recently learned that the Bombing Group 401 attacked the area where he stayed and worked. I never heard him complaining about that attack, he probably knew it was a friendly attack. I found a number of documents about this attack and would like to understand some more. 1.- Is there more information available of this attack, like photos or videos taken during this attack? 2.- Can some-one give me some more information of the structure of the airforce and the relationship of bombing group, wing, squadron and 8th or 9th air forces? Best regards, Kris

If you haven't already, I would start by looking here: http://www.401bg.org/Main/History/Missi ... Number=246 . There are other more knowledgeable members of this group, hopefully they will comment soon.

Sgt. Donald C. Byers, 613th Bomb Squadron, Togglier, 42-97344 Carrie B II, KIA 08/24/1944. |
