My father in law, S/Sgt. John H Pear went forever alot at 12:40 am 25 July 2012. He was 95 years old. My wife and I were at his side to say goodbye. John was a waist gunner on the Madame Queen with the crew of C.A. Kuta, 613th Squardon. John was 1 of 3 survivng crewmen. He will be missed. God bless the rest of you guys.

John Pear born 27 Jan. 1917 in Portland, Oregon. His wife passed away in 2005. John went in the service in 1941. He served in the 123rd Observation Squadron before going to the 401st. He flew 27 missions over Germany and recieved the DFC, Air Medal and Bronze Star. He married in the early 1950's and had 5 children. John worked for Railway Express and retired in 1979. He enjoyed a long retirement & lived at home with his dog until the end.

Here are a few photos I found. John is on the far right sitting on the wing. I am not sure who was wearing the flight jacket and John is on the left in the photo in front of the liquor store.
