The Facts Of Life Come Home To Roost

When we look back into the past we often want to cry.
We think of someone that we loved, why did they have to die?
And yet, had they survived life for them would have been an ordeal.
Jesus took our loved one home with Him saying I know how you feel!

Our loved one has a happy home in Heaven, they’re with friends,
And we look forward to being there too when our life down here ends.
Jesus tells us every day when we talk with Him in prayer
That our home in Heaven will be ready to spend Eternity there!

I often think of my good friends who have already crossed the bar.
Some of them were killed in battle in that dreaded thing called war.
They were much too young to die it’s true but they made the sacrifice.
Hero’s all they’re settled now in Heaven where they’re treated nice!

The older I get the faster it seems that the time on earth goes by.
I’m sure that most folks including me are in no hurry to die.
We have some things we want to do, we worked on them today.
The clock keeps ticking all the while and soon it’s another day!

We hear a lot about Heaven and we’re sure we want to go,
But most of us are happy with our life now and with the status-quo.
We’re in no big hurry to make the change, a big one it will be,
But most of us old folks know it won’t be long ‘til Jesus we will see!

We give thanks to God each day for the life on earth we’ve led.
Jesus has made sure that we were well supplied with our daily bread.
Be sure you are well prepared to face death as life draws to a close.
We don’t know when that will happen, for that only Jesus knows!
