2/26/2012 9:01:20 PM | I was wondering if anyone has any info/pictures of my Grandpa, Sgt Robert "Junior" Holmgren. He was a Ball Turret Gunner with the 612th Squadron. His main Fortress was Dynamite John and the Pilot was 2nd Lt Frederick W. Clark. I have a few pictures and information but not much. Sadly my grandpa passed away before I could get any stories or anything. So any info or pictures will be most welcome, thank you 🙂

2/27/2012 11:46:53 AM | Have you been to /history/crew.asp?cid=10171. I am curious as how you apply Dynamite John as his main aircraft as he flew several different B-17's during his 5 missions and none were associated with this aircraft? Also we show no Crew Photo for this crew might one of the photos you have be a crew photo. We would also be interested in your other photos. Don Byers Group Historian

2/27/2012 10:14:35 PM | Yes I have been to the crew history. I know he was with Dynamite John 'cause I have a crew photo and he's talked about the plane before. Also Lt.Clark talked about the plane and my Grandpa in a letter to my Grandma. He flew more then 5 missions, it was 16 or 17 actually. He got the Air Medal 'cause he flew one mor extra mission then his crew did. I attached the crew photo. My Grandpa is on the bottom row first one on the right. A few things first, my scanner is broken so I took the picture with my phone and attatched it that way. So it's not the closest or clearest. I'm hoping to get another scanner soon. When I do I'll be sure to put the other pictures on here. Where should I put them? Oh, by the way. Thank you for correcting his last name 🙂 One thing though he wasn't really a Jr. Junior was his nickname 'cause he was the shortest one on his crew. Thank you, Kari Holmgren

2/28/2012 11:24:47 AM | Having a photo in front of an aircraft doesn't mean that is thier aircraft. This photo does look like they had just came back from a mission. It could be a different crew that he flew with on that day. If so that will fall out when we enter Phase II of our project. An air medal is give for each 5 missions. Can you send me a scan of that photo at 300dpi to my email address: historian@401bg.org
