Time to upset the applecart and challenge the database. According to the database the "Betty J" was the usual aircraft of Lt. B. M. Shotts, who named it after his wife. So why does the database show him having never flown the aircraft on a mission ‽ My meagre rescources show that he flew it on mission 5 to Kiel and to Frankfurt on 29 Jan 44 my comrades will come up with more facts soon as they have more data than I 😂 . In the meantime I'm gonna suggest the database is corrupt and unreliable so go on Paul prove me wrong :twisted: . By the way he was wounded in the left thigh on a mission to Berlin and never flew any missions after that despite the database saying he did ‽ There thats the can of worms opened I'm off now, bye 😂

I sent an e-mail to Shotts and don't know if I will get a reply or not. Also their are 3 widows that are listed in the 2005 Directory of the 401st BG.
As we all know Vic's information is the basis of the 401st BG database. I know it was also built static as we know that people moved from aircraft to aircraft and if they didn't fly for a reason than some other person took their place. It would also be nice if we had access to the Load List that could tell us a lot about who was on what plane and when.

What Bug ‽ You getting me mixed up with Paul ‽ It is some of Vic's original work I have access to and Bill Mahers book of course and the info from those sources makes it more confusing, but it's great fun trying to dig out the truth isn't it, after all we are sort of amatuer researchers are we not ‽ I'm expecting more facts from the gang over here soon, for several reasons "Betty J" is a pet project of thiers. Now mine is "Mary Alice" so I'm hoping for more applecart overturning in the future :twisted:
