I recently saw several of these for sale on Ebay and I wondered when they were made, given and even the purpose of them. Can someone tell me about them?

A challenge coin is used mostly for a bar. You or someone else plop a challenge coin on the counter and the one that doesn't have a coin buys the drinks. There are other reason's but this is the most widely known...

Don,

That is interesting. How did the guys get them in the first place? Did they have to buy them or were they given for doing something? Does anyone know?

Check this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenge_coin and see if this will help you also.

Don,

Thank you for sending me that link. It was very nice to read and it was interesting to see the different uses as well as the length of time they have been in use. I wonder if anyone on the 401st still has theirs?
