Is there any way to get the captions for the photos from the NA?

For example, the caption for photo 65425A is as follows:
"Lt. Kovach and crew of the 401st Bomb Group, in front of a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress "Hard Seventeen" at an 8th Air Force base in England, 23...." (sorry, that's where my record is cut off.)

We have the photos, we have the neg. numbers, is there any way to get the captions and add them to the appropriate photo's page at all?
It would be a great asset I feel.

Best wishes to all,

Paul,

When I received the paper copy of the Carrie B II the caption was on the backside of the photo when I got the actual picture it was not there. So the National Archives do have it. Am unsure what it would take to get this info on all pictues from them.

1. E-mail ' requesting captions, and list your photos' NARA ID numbers - like your example '65425A'. They'll either send the captions to you, or reply how to get them (if things have changed). In the past when I requested captions for about 20+/- NARA photos, they mailed photocopy pages (with about 8-10 captions/page), at no-cost.

2. FYI, there are 2-systems of NARA photo ID numbers. As example, there's a 401BG Combat Mess photo showing the Officers' dining area. Its
NARA ID numbers are:
- - '65512 AC' its original USAAF ID number, and
- - '3A-12951' its 'laserdisc' number assigned when on-loan to the NASM, (now back in the NARA). In this example, the photo is image #12951 on 'laserdisc #3A'.

Hope this helps.
