My name is Gregory and anm the nephew of 2nd Lt. Leslie Hauss. My uncle was killed on 24 August 1944 on his only combat mission over Germany. By any chance,I'm looking for anyone who may have known him. Of course, I never knew him. I have found his final resting spot in Belgium and will travel there soon to pray and thank him at grave side. Anything would be greatly appreciated!

8/31/2007 12:28:26 PM | Jill's Jalopy's flew more missions than shown on the 401st site. My uncle Sgt. Donald C. Byers trained with Lt. Fish's crew including your uncle. When they reached England and were ready to fly their first mission my uncle was removed from Lt. Fish's crew and sent to Lt. Maxwell Cain's crew. This was due to shift in policy from a 10 man crew to 9 man crew. All members of the Fish Crew are deceased. Contact me at my e-mail address. donald_byers@sbcglobal.net
