4/26/2010 6:49:37 PM | Just got a copy of Fly Past #169 August 1995,story called Crew Number Thirteen.It is about a July 13 1944 mission to Munich.Pilot was 2nd Lt Harry Haskett and his crew,this was his third mission.The story talks about heavy damage to the tail turret
and the loss of the gunner Ed Page.The story is by Alan Jewell.

4/30/2010 8:03:45 AM | Hey Win, even though Haskett took over after my Grandpa was out of the War (his last mission being Aug 18, 1944), ANYONE I mean, ANYONE that flew on/with/inside/worked on the Mary Alice, I want to know about.
So, how did you comes across this article, and is it available somewhere?
Edit: I mean, I knew he was there at the same time as my Grandpa, dates overlapped, but assuming he did not take over "full time" on teh Mary Alice until after Mr. Knight left, which was 2 mission before my grandpa, if I remember correctly...
Edit: IN fact, I have tried to figure out WHAT plane my Grandpa flew on for his last 2 missions, July 11 and Aug 18 1944, as Mr. Knights last mission was July 4 1944. So, would be pretty neat to find out of my Grandpa flew with Mr. Haskett for those, even though my Grandpa is not listed on the official crew list???? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

5/2/2010 4:20:32 PM | More on Crew Number Thirteen,I found this in a War Bird mag out of Britain,August 1995,# 169.It tells the story of a mission to Munich and what happend to them on that mission.There are 5 photos with the story,one ground shot of 4 B-17s on a snow coverd field.I can make out tail # 338077 IY*Q, what looks like 48371 -- *m and what looks like -- *H.The next shot shows a formation bomb drop with 7 B-17s.Tail # 339125 IN*M,IN*A. The 3rd shot is a pic of Brendan Lynch's flight jacket,shows on the top CREW- 13 next Time'll Tell then a pin-up on the back.4th is a group shot of the crew,Hinson Jones,Mike Urban,Ed Page,Brendan Lynch,Bill Hutchinson,Ed Eudalay,Ken Buvinghousen,Stuart Houze,Tom Davis and Harry Haskett.The 5th is a shot of the tail turret all shot up where Ed Page was mortally wounded.If this is Mary Alice,they had a cartoon of Hitlers face on the tail turret.
