The black and white image of "Mangler" shown is a fairly rough design compared to a black and white photo of an actual patch I've seen, the details are better, the facial expression is an "angry" look and the bomb is bigger and has nore details as does the body of the bear.

I'm not trying to critisize here, I'm just hoping that someone out there in the WW-2 community will find an "actual" patch either cloth or leather form to post on the site .
I wish I could find the book I saw the emblem in,but for the life of me I've not been able to find it, sorry for this as I would make a copy to post.

It would appear that the squadron patch drawings from NARA were sketches made by the 450th Sub Depot in preparation for making them into wall art.
The Combat Mess walls had them surrounded by the relevant aircraft names, and then these ones were hung up in one of the communal buildings at Deenethorpe:

The squadron logos can be seen around the stage curtains:
615BS partially hidden lower left
614BS to the left of the 8AF badge
613BS to the right of the 8AF badge
612BS Mangler logo lower right.

TTFN,
Paul

Paul,

I would think more that when you have a common place for the Troops that you would get it from the 401st BG and display them for all the troops. This would be more common.

Thanks to Charlotte Strom, widow of Ken Strom (Navigator, John R. Tanner's crew, 612th SQ, "Lassie Come Home")

Awful phone-camera photo of another original printed Mangler patch that was brought to this year's reunion.
Looks almost to have been printed onto chrome leather, it was certainly very pale where the top layer had lifted.
