It's pretty high for a starting bid $200.00. And don't believe the $1,000.00 remark they made for a selling price last year!!!

The cheapest I have bought this book for was $86.00 and it had a couple of pages that had some articles cut out of it and was not in great shape. I gave that one to someone in my Sunday school class grandson who was interested in WWII. I got another one that I donated and put up for silent bid at the 2006 Bomb Group reunion for our fund. I have 2 copies myself one original and 1 copy. You can just about bet that anyone you see now on ebay is going to go for between $200.00 and $300.00 bucks. When I bid on ebay I don't telegraph that I am interested in the item until the last couple of minutes of the bidding.

Don,

Any chance that a note or article can be sent to the entire 401st membership and ask for those who may be interested in a copy or copies to pre pay to the 401st and then maybe it can be reprinted....I bet they could sell a lot of them on Ebay and through rare book dealers as well. Just a thought... I know I am still interested in several copies my self. Have my Dad's original...now but would like copies for family members too.

It could also be sold at the next reunion as well....

We have approached that once before Jackie and got a resound "NO" on that subject. I think the minium order is like 100 and a minium cash out late of 5 or 6 thousand. I think it is a little late to try and come up with anything for the 2010 reunion at this point in time. This subject is not over and I have spoke with a couple people on this matter before. So it is only on my back burner right now.

Thanks or bringing it up!!!!

Yo Jackie,

You got my 100% support for a re-print of anything and I'll subscribe, I had to sell my entire 401st book collection last year when I was made redundant and needed money to make ends meet 😢 apart from my signed copy of Hal Bowmans memoirs which is going with me to meet St. Peter. It is not my place to lecture the board on what they do with money but somehow I get the feeling that ownership of these items among family members is becoming quite significant. Anyway sister we'll just have to keep praying 😃

Dale,

The thing I keep thinking Dale is this:

Number one pre paid orders would help pay for a good portion of the pre-sales by members would make a good dent in the up-front payment and I see no reason why the extra books could not be sold on Ebay or with rare book dealers who would love to have copies to resell.

I did all I could when I wrote for a quote a year ago and as Don said ..the board does not seem to want to try and reorder at this time. I am like you and sure hope that can change.

If I ever am blessed to win the lottery...I would place the order myself <g> and sell them to all who were interested. 😛

Jackie...your fears maybe over. I have the winning lottery ticket for tomorrow's Texas Lottery, and once I collect, consider yourself "paid" to get us up and running on that!!!!!

Now, if I REALLY do have that winning lottery ticket, we might be able to take this a little more serious, but in teh meantime, let it be known, that I too am all for it....
