I am researching the above named airman whose recent obit states he was assigned to the 401 BG, was a navigator, and flew on B-17 #42-97938 (named "Twan- n-n-g").
The only reference I can find is a Lt L. Burge, pilot, assigned to 612 BS who is listed as flying the Twan-n-n-g on the Merseberg mission of 12 Sept '44.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you, Don

This is an identical link to Don's, but it is part of our "active" web site (www.401bg.com).

This indicates that Lt. C.R. Burge was a bombardier on Lt. L.J. Lawrence's crew, (612th Squadron, 401st BG).
