My sister and I are soon-to-be Associate Members of the 401st Bomb Group Assoc. Our father, Charles B. Minor, was a navigator in the crew "Swingin' On a Star." (I'm told the logo never actually appeared on a plane, only on their leather flight jackets; Dad's jacket was "lost" in our move from California to Ohio in 1967). Recently, in our weekly phone call, he casually asked me if I was "free to travel" in October next year....and that's how I'm becoming an Assoc. Member. I am very proud of my dad's WWII accomplishments, and never tire of hearing his stories. It truly was "the greatest generation." I'm proud to be the daughter of a B-17 navigator.

Dear Gayle:  I was the Pilot of "Bottle Baby" in the 613th Squadron of the 401st.  I am glad that your Dad has taken the time to tell you about his experiencws in WWII.  I have tried to do the same with my children..all seven of them.  Welcome to you and your sister as members of the association....I am planning to register all seven of my kids as members effective the first of January.  I hope soem of them will be able to attend the reunion next October.

Gayle; found your post.  I am son of Capt. Hayes.  I remember his mentions of "Charlie Minor" when Dad told stories.  Are you in Ohio?  Born in Chicago, I now live in Boardman (Ytown) Ohio.
Willing to share information.  I have done family genealogy for years.  This year began researching WWII of my Dad and his brother Roger (KIA B-24,1943).
I have his personal letters home and his war records.

Hope you find this reply some day.  Chuck Hayes
