A Message to the Board of Directors

I and others are concerned about the state of both the old and new forums. Recently, we were told that the 401st would be getting a new web site, which raised concerns for some of us who feel that the new site may be subject to many of the problems that the current site is subject to.
I wrote my concerns to the Board here:

As I know not everyone visits the new forum, I'm linking the topic here so that any who are concerned can also voice their comments and concerns. And feel free to criticize me if you think I'm wrong on this.

I share the concern for our forums. The old one worked great for me and for many others. The new one is cumbersome and I can rarely find anything twice. Please, clean up our old forum and let us return to it!

Unfortunately, Jean, the very thing that makes the new forum cumbersome is also the thing that protects it from spammers. The old forum (without some major effort) will always be subject to spam issues and cleaning it up will also take effort, although not as much as it might to prevent spammers.
As to finding things, the new forum has a search function, although there seems to be an issue with some messages simply disappearing.

Am affraid I agree with Ed on this one. When the new forum was brought up it was ok for awhile and then we started getting hit with robot spammers. Two of us were deleteing from 100-200 spammers per day. This old forum is much different and I cann't get to the source to do anything with it. I do have some control over the new one. I would like to clean up the old forum also but no access to it is my problem.

Ed, Don and Jean and to the ~~powers that be....,
I think someone needs to be given access to clean this old forum up. It gets worse everyday and no attempt is made to get rid of the Spam.
For anyone coming here for the first time...it is a very bad first impression of this forum which does indeed represent the site of the 401st.
There must indeed be a way for someone to be given access and the ability to clean it up as the problem continues to get worse every day.
