Runway headings

I am in the process of trying to recreate Deenethorpe as it was in WWI for a flight sim. It will be used in Fs2004 A century of Flight. I have the book Airfields of the 8th then and now. While this book covers much of what I am looking for it doesn't cover the runway headings. If anybody has this info it would help my project immensly. Also the runway and taxiway widths would ehlp. thank you for any information you might be willing to share. Robert Swaim

If you send me your address, I can send you a 2-sheet set of RAF drawings of Deenethorpe. [They're about 18"x24" +/-]. Runway headings are included. I believe they are 'to-scale' and should be able to,at least, get you 'mostly' there.
I'd also like to hear more about your project - it sounds very interesting.

I'm interested too. I teach high school JROTC and would love a sim with Deenethorpe on it.

Thanks you to everybody for the help. I am creating this airbase to be placed in the Microsoft flight Simulator 2004 A Century of Flight. There is a addon coming out this yeat called airpower. This addon will include my favorite bombers from WWII. Including B-17G,B-17F,B-24 and a B-19. I want to have an airbase to base these great planes out of in the sim. since all the bases included are modeern I am making a WWII vintage on. I choose Deenethorpe because in the sim it is as it is now. Just a small single strip airfield. Now that I am learning more about it I am glad I chose it. It is still in the very early stages but If somebody can tell me how to post pics here I will put up what I have now. One other thing I am having a hard time figuring out is the mark II lighting system. I want to includ ethis but can't find any info on it. A basic explination would help me in figuring out what lighting system included withthe game I should use there. I am not going to add modern flight assists as you didnt have them when you guys flew there. Mskes it way to easy anyways.

You might check with the Air Force Historical Research Agency which has been the object of a few Forum messages, for info on the lighting system.....

I am wondering if any of you have the game FS2004 a century of Flight? I would really like to send this airbase to somebody that knows the layout or was stationed there to look it over as I progress.

I think I have the simulator program on my school's JROTC computer, but as a son of 401ster, I don't have the experience of flying at Deenethorpe. I have been to Deenethorpe on several occasions as part of reunions and on my own and have some flying experience.

Back to lighting discussion..at Deenethorpe we had NO LIGHTS. We flew daylight missions.

More on Deenethorpe...We also did not use radio while on the ground waiting for takeoff. Signal to Start Engines, Taxi, and Takeoff was given by signal light fom the Tower. We asembled on Radio Silence and di not break Radio Silence until we saw that first burst of Flak or fighters....which ever came first!!
