And an E-mail to afhso.research@pentagon.af.mil may get you an answer (or path to one) about what the 3014th AAF BU was (and where). (Typically, I've found that a 'Base Unit' operates an Air Base, at which, other commands have/administer other function like training, transit etc. - at that base).<br><br>I'd sure like to see your photos of him in uniform and the one you refere to with his 'group' - They may show 'clues', even if taken 'Stateside'.<br><br>Do you know what document or info his &quot;service in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe&quot; is from?   (With his Service appearing to be late in the Europe War (1944-1945) do you have any info or letters indicating he was possibly part of a 'replacement' crew?  A pilot's name would help identify 'Crew, thence Unit).<br><br>Lastly, as 'direct Kin', you (and your Wife) are entitled to access to any Vet. records.
