I am looking for any information on my grandpa Alfred "Bud" Vokaty or his crew. Any information about him would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Andrea,

On the home page of this web site click "combat mission crews" and look in alphabetical order for your grandfather under the 613th Squadron.  Then click on his name to see the missions he flew.

Hi Andrea!
I happen to have known the bombardier, Chuck Stode, of your grandpa's crew, and I have just recently been exchanging emails with a gentleman who knows the ball turret gunner, Howard Crull.  Their B-17 was called Command Performance II, and it was considered by the crew to be a lucky plane, as no one was ever injured until the second Schweinfurt raid, when it was shot down and I believe the waist gunners were killed.  I believe the rest of the crew spent the next 13 months as "guests" of the Reich in a POW camp.  Not much info, I know, but I hope others can add some more!
Good luck to you!
