Well I can see then why you asked about families, I didn't know he married a Local. I don't believe there would have been any difference in today's military then back in WWII where his wife would have had medical priviliges. I would still think there were no quarters on base for married people and would have been given a quarters allowence to live close to the base. Now let me also make this statement I was not in WWII I am retired military.
When you are in another country you have to get married localy and then you have to get married again by a military chaplan so somewhere there is a record of the marriage. Best bet is the widow returned to her native town. Your best bet is still the IDPF file which will mention the wife.
