I have been going through some of the mission sunnaries and I notice that on the earlier missions the 615th squadron is the only  squadron to post aircraft serial numbers and names. I was curious as to why this happens. Can someone enlighten me?

According to my info, nicknames were not put on the manifests of missions until around August of '44.  I don't know about the 615th in particular, but if something significant did happen to an B-17 during a mission, it was noted prior to that.

Your point is a good one, and I will look into it with our webmaster. My hunch is that he had the 615th information available at the time he constructed the web site and not that relating to other squadrons. Aircraft numbers should be available for all squadrons.

If this question is about the 401BG website's Aircraft and Missinos "listings", I think the answer is, from a prior answer to me, that the information is available - it;s a matter of resources to add it to the Website.

If the question is about the original, official, 401BG Mission Reports' "listings" - for each Squadron - is definitely included.
