Does anyone have any information on a B-17 named "Tail Wind" that supposedly served in the 614th Sq.? I'm looking for some information on an Arnold Bruce who was a gunner on this plane.

Thank you

There are 3 identified B-17's with this name.  One from the 603BG, 368th Sq, 447th BG 710th BS, and the last is unknown BG/BS with no serial number.

This is from the B-17 Nose Art Directory.

Found no A. Bruce in the listings of the 614th Squadron or anyother of the squadrons.

Do you have additional info that might help locate what you are looking for.

According to the Project Bits and Pieces booklet on the 1st Air Division, there were four groups with B-17s named "Tail Wind" as two words, with or without the quotes, the 392nd, 467th, 458th, and 446th.  There were five groups with Tail Wind as the one word "Tailwind".  They were the 306th, 398th, 445th, 447th, and the 487th.  There was even a Tailwind II in the 467th.  Don and I have pretty much the some references for crew members, so I can't help out there......
