Col Jim Moschgat 5/31/2003 3:18:44 PM | Just thought folks skimming this forum might be interested in a replica 614 BS leather jacket that's on sale on E-Bay. While not an exact WWII copy, the art on the back is fairly close to the original worn by the crew of SHADE Ruff, a 614th B-17. Go to www.ebay.com and search for Item Item # 2177172557. The jacket is up for auction until June 4th. By the way, in 1989 I was an F-16 pilot assigned to the 613th Fighter Squadron, 401st Tactical Fighter Squadron, Torrejon, Spain. I was a new major when I attended the 1989 Group reunion in England and had a lifetime experience. I'm currently a colonel assigned to an air base in Saudi Arabia and flew 45 F-16 combat missions during Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and IRAQI FREEDOM. Greetings and best wishes to all the WWII-era 401-sters. You're true patriots and a great bunch of guys. |
Col Jim Moschgat 5/31/2003 3:55:57 PM | Sorry for the typo above. From 1984 to 1987 I flew F-16s with the 613th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 401st Tactical Fighter Wing, at Torrejon AB, Spain. In 1989 I was a staff officer assigned to HQ USAFE at Ramstein AB, Germany and attended the 401 BG reunion in England at the invitation of Ralph Trout. I still have fond memories of those few days and the great veterans I met. Again, best wishes to you all. |
Art Seder 6/3/2003 12:12:29 PM | To all members of the Association and friends: I have just sent the following message to Colonel Moschgat in reply to his fine contribution to the Forum: "Jim: I just read your great message in the Forum section of our web site. I attended the 1989 reunion in England and remember very well the visit you paid us. As I recall it, the weather was a little thick at the time of your flyover, when we were dedicating the 401st Memorial at Deenthorpe, but it was a memorable occasion all the same. I hope you will continue to keep in touch with our Association. We are now accepting as members the wives, children and grandchildren on 401st veterans and anyone else interested in the history and traditions of the Group. So we are in something of a transitional period right now. The interest that you and other members of the younger generation have shown in our WW II experiences is most gratifying. Your combat record is certainly one of which you should be proud. We are certainly pleased and proud at the record you and your guys have made in these combat operations. Congratulations on a great job, for which we are all very grateful. Art Seder President, 401st Bomb Group Association. |
