Hi. Searching for info or pictures of a/c or crew of this a/c. Pilot Lt. Lawry. A/c named HEY LOU. Lost into sea off the Isle of Wight ( southern England ) on 31/12/43. Info required for a book to be published next June on air losses in my area. Thanks. Andy. wrecks@wight.uk.com

No picture indicated in the B-17 Nose Art Directory. 6 Missions were flown:
Paris 5th Dec 1943 ? Emden 11th Dec 1943 ? Kiel 13th Dec 1943 ? Bremen 20th Dec 1943 ? Ludwigshaven 30th Dec 1943 ? Boredeaux 31st Dect 1943 Hey Lou 42-31064 (IN-H)
This is listed under my 613th book from the 613th and the newly published 401st Bomb Group Book, in the B-17 Flying Fortress Story list it as in the 614th Bomber Squadron:

Many thanks. My information was that the a/c was on mission to Keil, but this is at odds with yours. Could you confirm area of loss? My info says into sea south of Isle of Wight. Once again thanks for your reply. Andy

This information was taken directly from the 613th Squadron's book by Vic Morrow (last name not certain) as I am at work. I will do a little more checking.

The B-17 Flying Fortress Story indicates MIA Kiel and crashed in Sea off Island of Wight United Kingdom. MACR 1872.
The new 401st BG Book indicates crashed in sea.

The mission of Dec 31st 1943 was to Bordeaux France and the aircraft was lost due to flak and fighter damage .The crash site 3miles off St Catherines Point Lt Dockendorf is buried at Madinglay.Information taken from MIA report.

Andy I forgot IN-H was a 613th squadron aircraft 614 squadron had the identification letters IW- . Graham.
