I try to find some unknown information about aviation in the south west of France<br/> I have been unsucessful at sending this message to your historian through the web site... <br/>  <br/> The résumé below is about a B17 that belonged to the 401st BG.I have some pictures that I would like to share with you. Is there an email address where I could send them?<br/>  <br/>  Such as an archaeological excavation, the work of depollution is over.<br/> Thanks to a team work between the local “historians” (Jean Darmanté and me) and the service of mine clearance of the civil protection, the doubt which remained 72 years after the crash of B-17 “Flak Rat” in Arjuzanx on December 31st, 1943 has finally found an answer.<br/> If there was enough of documentation in the archives to know the causes of the crash landing of the aircraft, none the reports of the crew mentioned any  dropping in distress of the loading of bombs.<br/> The opening of a working site made possible the finding of a non exploded 500 pound bomb  which was later destroyed and of some parts of the plane.<br/> The most extraordinary was to find in the mud of the hole this piece of paper still in perfect condition related to a system of overfeeding of the engines.<br/>  <br/> Best regards from France,<br/> Christian Levaufre <br/><br/><br/>

| There was one photo of the hole with a possible piece of paper and that was it.  It's been quite awhile back now and there was nothing that I could find of the cause of the crash.
