It was shot down by German fighters 21 June 1944 while on a mission to bomb Berlin. Some of the crew bailed out while others stayed with the plane as it crash landed in a German field. The reason for my request is that I have an original German color slide made by an amateur photographer of Salvo Sadie just after she went in. This image was shot just before the German security forces arrived and would have prevented such close access to civilians. If there are any surviving crewmembers of Salvo Sadie, I hope you will contact me off board so I can share this image with you and you can share your experiences with me!
Until then...

Dave Williams

|- | '''donaldbyers'''

2/21/2013 6:35:54 PM | Mr. Williams,

I will make search for the survivers of this crash. As Historian for the Group you have to know that I am very interested in the photo.

Don Byers

Sgt. Donald C. I am the niece of Martin Boxer, a bombardier on the Salvo Sadie, and my son is working on a project related to Martin's missions. Thank you very much. <nowiki>--</nowiki> Sarah Boxer

|- | '''donaldbyers'''

11/16/2015 7:50:35 PM | Sarah,

You can try emailing him or PM him to see if he would consider that request. He has communicated to me that this photo is copyrighted.

If there is any additional information you might have to help the 401st website it would be greatly appreciated. You can also help with a Wiki page for him by going here [/MainPage.ashx|/MainPage.ashx] to Register. Then you can select from the menu on the left "All Pages" and then go down to "H" and select How to Create a Serviceman's Page.

Don Byers
Group Historian

Sgt.
