| I found a wooden box at my mothers house the other day. had some things of my dad's in it. to my surprise was a small photo book from the 401st. The title was "Bombs Away". The book isn't in very good shape. The front cover is half missing. It has official letters from the group and photos of a few aircraft. The captions under the photos list the four ground crew members. I will get my son to make copies of the pages and try and upload them. It had some personal references of my dad. One he circled a crew members name on "Diana Queen of the Chase". A photo of Boche Buster" has an arrow pointing to it with the words I live here. I don't know if it is a reference to the No.1 engine or maybe a tent in the back ground. My dad had never shown me this book before. Anyone ever hear of this book before? <br/><br/><br/>

| Hi Bob:<br/> Your 'finds' about your Dad's 401st Service are real treasures - moreso if your Dad was a Ground Crewman, since there seem to be so few records and photos about them.  I'm sure our Historian Don Byers would be interested in hearing more from you, and maybe you'll eventually be able to post an 'album' on this Site about your Dad at Deenethorpe.  Wonderful you have and share your Dad's legacy - Thank you. <br/><br/><br/>

| My father was not just a ground crew member but also a flight engineer/top turret gunner. He flew between 5 to nine missions since he received the Air Medal. He was also one of the ferry crews that brought the planes back to the states. I have posted a photo of him and two pilots in the Air Crew forum. <br/><br/><br/>
