| Savannah Reunion 2010<br/> <br/> I just got back from one more “mission” with the 401st.<br/> I enjoyed this one much more that I did the very first.<br/> The one last week was low altitude and spent among good friends,<br/> The very kind of family fun that we all miss when it ends!<br/> <br/> It was wonderful to see all the old “vets” again,<br/> But we sure missed the ones who now have left the scene.<br/> We are fortunate indeed that family members now run the show.<br/> With good reunions planned ahead the 401st will continue to grow!<br/> <br/> We’ve got very good records of our history and our past.<br/> It’s good that these are in the books as memories fade much too fast.<br/> Our prominent part of the Museum Show will last ‘til kingdom come,<br/> For generations yet unborn it will mean much more to some!<br/> <br/> As I wandered through the garden with all the beautiful plaques,<br/> With all the names of heroes in lasting stone and not in wax.<br/> I stood before the plaque of “Bottle Baby” and remembered all my crew.<br/> We were all so very young and were fortunate to make it through!<br/> <br/> A thoughtful gesture of our reunion planners they gave us each a rose.<br/> On the Chapel Altar we placed the rose in honor of all those<br/> Who’ve gone aloft and whose sweet memories always brings the tears,<br/> Knowing we too will join the flight before too many years!<br/> <br/> We’ll continue to attend  the reunions and read the “Poop From Group.”<br/> Our memories may fade as we feel like we’re “flying in the soup.”<br/> Looking forward to seeing everyone next time in Colorado Springs,<br/> Good luck, good health and much happiness, the kind that Jesus brings!<br/> <br/>                                               Copyright               2010<br/> <br/>                                                  Jacob Nathaniel Shepherd <br/><br/><br/>
