| Hello, I'm looking for anyone who may have a good clear photo of the "early" stateside patch design of the 612th, it was of a large angry standing bear on a cloud and holding an aerial bomb in on raised paw ready to throw it.<br/> I have seen a small photo of a Sgt.Katz wearing this on his cloth flying jacket, and a few other odd photos but none are large or clear enough to use, I am especially wanting the colors to this emblem if at all possible, I know this emblem was short lived as the unit went to the winged falling bomb design, but would Greatly appreciate help in finding a scan/photo etc  ,PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE  if you have anmy leads contact me, thank you all veterans of this Group both flight crews and ground related personel for what you did for us during WW-2, it is Very Much Appreciated !!!!!!!!!<br/> Johnny<br/> [mailto:WeBeEmblems@aol.com|WeBeEmblems@aol.com] <br/><br/><br/>

| Success at last , via a reply to a posting I have Finally gotten a image of the 612th "Mangler" Bomb Sqd design in full color , the Daughter of a unit navigator who was with the Group called me and told me she had an image she found amongst her Father's belongings and was very kind to e mail the image to me !<br/> <br/> I have also e mailed the image to the forum's historian and am hoping he'll post it along with the latter 612th design in the main page that has the patches shown !<br/> <br/> Glad to know that it has been found finally and not lost to history , it was used stateside and briefly overseas by what I've been told by actual unit members, it just was short lived and replaced by the latter design , at least now it can be saved from loss and posted where it can be viewed by anyone wanting to know what it looked like etc , also I have been told that the image was made into both cloth and leather patches and I have seen a couple of blurry photos of it actually on jackets in use .<br/> <br/> Johnny Signor<br/> [mailto:WeBeEmblems@aol.com|WeBeEmblems@aol.com] <br/><br/><br/>

| Hey Don , I sent you a private e mail about the Daughter of the Nav this came from , thanks for posting the color image , note to the forum members, the "actual" jacket patches that I have seen(a few fuzzy photos,black and white) the outer border varies from the simple round one in the color example , it follows the shape of the bears head/upper body and the outer edge of the bomb and the cloud below , other than that most of the design is very similar to the B&W photos.<br/> <br/> If and when I can ever find an "actual" cloth or Leather version I will be sure to let the forum know of it , I am very surprised that someone of the actual WW-2 Group hasn't dug one out of a footlocker or storage place , there must be at least a few still out there somewhere , well maybe some day ne will turn up . <br/> <br/> In the meantime at least we all have a example in color and an idea of its original form, I believe this one to be either a decal on cardboard or a silkscreened type on cardboard , a lot of the WW-2 unit had them made like this I think as PX types for the Ladies at home and or relatives gifts, some I've seen actually have the unit 's title and or number on them . <br/> Johnny Signor<br/> [mailto:WeBeEmblems@aol.com|WeBeEmblems@aol.com] <br/><br/><br/>
