The dispersals were as follows:

Great Falls AAF: Group HQ plus 612th Bomb Sqdn.
Cut Bank AAF: 613rd Bomb Sqdn.
Glasgow AAF: 614th Bomb Sqdn.
Lewistown AAF: 615th Bomb Sqdn.

Currently Great Falls is the only one of the four still run by the Air Force, yet ironically is the only one without an active runway.

Great Falls AAF: Now Malstrom AFB, home of the 341st Space Wing, Air Force Space Command.
Cut Bank AAF: Now Cut Bank International Airport. There is a museum on site, with a number of 613th BS items and photos.
Glasgow AAF: Not to be confused with the post-war Glasgow AFB, it's now Glasgow International Airport.
Lewistown AAF: Now Lewistown Municipal Airport.

Looking at current photos of the satellite bases, they are all relatively intact, and all still have the 12 "frying-pan" type dispersals installed for a Heavy Bomb Squadron visible, to varying degrees.

I've put them in a Google Earth file, should anyone be interested.

All the best,
Paul

Paul Bellamy

|- | '''donaldbyers'''

4/17/2008 7:40:05 PM | Yeah, I checked out the Cut Bank AAF web page before. The are still looking for help/donations for the museum and history of the area. Would like the Google Map to look at also.

Don

Sgt. Donald C. Sorry I had to zip it as my host server doesn't recognise .kmz files.

Let me know how you get on.

TTFN,
Paul

Paul Bellamy

|- | '''JamesLy'''

8/3/2010 9:17:07 AM | This Saturday 7 Aug 2010 my wife and I are going to Glacier National Park on vacation for a few days. On the return trip we will be stopping at the Cut Bank Airman's Museum and visiting with Bob Jacoby. I have also talked to Jerry Moline at the Lewistown Airport and he is going to show us some of the buildings the 615th use in 1943. I beleive they're on the Nation Register of Historic Places. Our last stop will be in Jordan, MT for a Memorial Dedication on Saturday 14 Aug 2010 @ 2:00 pm for the B-17F (42-6062) crew that were killed on 24 Aug 1943 in a plane crash. The granite stone was set in place last week at the VFW in Jordan, MT. Fred Gregorich arranged for the purchase and engraving of the stone. Fred's brother Edward Gregorich with the engineer/top turret gunner on that B-17F. And weather permitting a trip to the crash site after the memorial ceremony.

Is there anything to see or a contact person at the Great Falls Air Base?

Thanks

James Lynch Soderberg, nephew of 2nd Lt James W Lynch, Pilot of B-17F #42-6062.

|- | '''donaldbyers'''

8/3/2010 7:11:44 PM | Sorry I don't know of anyone at the former base. It would be great to have some of the pictures of Cut Bank that we could include in the history section of the web site. Another thing we are looking for is a color picture of the 612th Squadron emblem which has a Bear and Bomb on it. A number of 612th people had this painted on the left side of their A2 jackets.

Don Byers

Sgt. Donald C. Pictures related to all groups would certainly be a welcome addition to the site.

|}
