Creating a Serviceman's Page
Creating a serviceman's page is easy, you just need to know a few things. Like how to navigate around our website, how to use wiki markup and a few simple rules.
Wiki Markup
Wiki Markup is text you enter that helps format what you see on a page. For example, note the bar titled "Wiki Markup." it was created using a few simple keystrokes using text like this:
=== Wiki Markup ===
. Those keystrokes told the wiki to make that bar above.
More may be found on wiki markup here:
Help.WikiMarkup-Reference Some Simple Rules
Note that this is a wiki. This means that it can be edited by just about anyone. We limit our membership, however, by restricting access to only members and friends of the 401st. Regardless, the information entered here should be accurate and verifiable. It will also be enforced for consistency. This means, simply, that because we will a have many different people editing these pages, that it's possible that two different pages may look consistently different from each other. We don't want this, so we will take the time to work on pages to make them look like they all belong to the same website. So, what you enter could be changed if it appears consistent or is not factually based.
And no spamming of any kind. This is a historical site, meant to preserve the memories of those who fought and died for our freedoms. Any spam of any kind will be result in the immediate termination of the offending account.
Creating a Page
- When creating a page, we suggest you start by seeing if that serviceman first exists. He may already have a page created by someone else. Please check our Serviceman's Index to see if he has a page already.
Personnel Index
This index displays a list of all personnel who already have a wiki page defined for them.
- If the serviceman does not exist on the wiki, start by finding him on our Main Index page. Once located, simply click the Wiki link, you will be redirected to a "Not Found" Page.
- On the Not Found page, please click the "be the first to create a page for this person" link and the new page will be created.
- You may now make the appropriate changes for this serviceman. Once you are done, simply hit the save button on the top right of the page.
