I am building a radio control model of this B-17. I have gotten a bunch of good info from members of this group including the address of the only living crew member. Mr James W. Carson of Tx.. He has written back to me and it was a thrill for me. I have been researching this plane for over a year and just in the last month or so, I have found out a great deal about her and her fate. If anyone has stories or photos of Heavy Date before her loss I would love to purchace a copy. Any and all information will be of great help and interest to me.

Thanks, Hans

What kit are you using to build the B-17 or is it scratch built?  I want to build the same, but am reluctant to go much bigger than .15 engines. I find airplanes bigger than this size or smaller.  I am considering the Guillows kit but it is control and uses two .049s.  I have the Royal plans, but uses .25 engines or larger, and would be rather expessive to build.  There are many issues to deal with when getting into multiengine plane, and I know I do not have all the bases covered.
