First of all, here's the Officers' Mess.
There are two RAF vehicles in the shot, a Commer 8cwt Van and a Hillman 10cwt Light Utility (Tilly)
The next photos are taken beside the Officers' Quarters on Site 7, the 614th's billet area at the western end of Benefield village.
These huts were on the opposite side of the road to the main part of Site 7, the houses of Coronation Crescent now stand on the location.

1/17/2010 3:30:34 PM | The patch on the officer behind the Captain looks to be a 614th Lucky Devil Patch. Paul you need to pass pictures like this to Ed Dana so they can be placed in Deenethorpe "Then" area for the photo gallery.

I've been looking at the jacket patch, and it looks very much like this one:
That's the first patch of the 527th Bomb Squadron, 379BG, based at nearby Kimbolton.

2/1/2010 6:58:38 PM | Hey guys, not trying to ask repeat questions (asked this in another thread) but since my grandpa flew on teh Mary Alice (401st/615th), and from my understanding, teh Mary Alice was stationed at Deenethorpe, does that mean he stayed there as well? Granted i am assuming that he did, but I am not 100% sure, so wanted to know. Also, if he did in fact stay/live at Deenethorpe, are there any pics of where he would have stayed listed here?

First, the one kindly sent to me from upthread:
And a colour shot of the same end of the building sometime later, showing the nice picket fence, sign and whitewashed cycle stands.
In addition, the walls appear to have been painted green since the first photo:

Both photos seem to have been taken after the fireplaces were inserted into the Mess Lounge.
The route of the fenced path helps me no end in identifying the main entrance door to the club. 🙂
