I found a copy of a loose leaf folder with a copy of what looks like a draft copy of Brig. Gen H W Bowman and Vic Maslen book listing the 401st casualties. If any member would like this copy would you please advise and I will be happy to mail it. The book was found at Sywell Airdrome in a box containing Tiger Moth spares which I had purchased for my Moth re build.

Hi OldGunner, thanks for your post. Goes to show 'you never know' where or when discoveries will happen. I'm sure the 401st Historian would like to connect with you about what you found and if the 401st Association would like a copy (and cool story how you found it). Have you tried contacting Historian Donald A. Byers via this Website or <historian@401bg.org>? If you have trouble contacting him, let me know and I'd be glad to try and help connect you with him.

I know Vic Maslen transcribed all-4 Squadron histories from official microfilm, as well as some other 401st records, but I didn't know about this one (but Don probably does).

BTW, in '99, Paul Knight took me up for a Deenethorpe overflight - amazing. Did you know Paul?

Good luck on your Moth re-build,

Win
