Greetings all,

This is not directly related to the 401st BG, but I hope I can tap into your knowledge. Can anyone advise me where I can find information on USAAF Officers serving in the UK during WW2?

My sister-in-law has asked me to do some research into her grandfather. I have his full name as he was named on her father's birth certificate. He was a Captain serving in the USAAF in 1943. The address given for him is not a military base, nor - being in Coventry - is it close to any USAAF base I know, so it is likely to be her grandmother's address or perhaps a relative of hers. They did not marry. Other than that there is no information on him.

To be honest, I have no idea where to start with this. I have tried a google search but have found nothing. Any help on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You may want to start by having your sister-in-law request information from the National Archives.
The following link that should get you started:
This page includes information on how people who are not next of kin can request information. You can submit Standard Form 180. Through the freedom of information act, you will be provided limited information, but it is a starting point that may provide some clues.

Good luck with your search!
